The admission procedure for new Sainik Schools involves a multi-step process, starting with an All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE). AISSEE is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This is followed by e-counselling, a medical examination, and final document verification.

Students can join a Sainik school either in Grade VI or in Grade IX. They cannot join in any other grades.
